Steve:
The good news is that TSMC will offer only o.3um CMOS process instead of 0.35um on its 8" wafers and UMC will follow soon. This means we will have 36% more gross dies comparing with wfers using
0.35 um process, and we may yield 20% more good dies comparing with
0.35 um CMOS process. This also means cost per dies will be reduced, and the cost of components will be further down !!!!!!!!

steve, from this weekends IBD... Compaq controls 67% of the sub1k pc market. their presario 4504 has 48% market share while the presario 2200 has 19%. The next closest is Packard Bell with 12% followed by Acer @4%. It would appear cpq is well positioned to take advantage of the sub1k trend...
