Don't take it personally or too seriously.

Think about the general concept. The voters are attempting to who to put their trust into a group of people that includes some of the least trustable members of society. If Parliament was a construction company, you wouldn't hire them to do your house renovation.

I am sure that you have seen some of the stat sheets on the U.S. members of the Congress and Senate, that are circulated from time to time. Compared with the general population, the legislators have a much higher rate of divorce, bankruptcy, felony charges, convictions, substance abuse, and civil litigation.

Even if the party leaders have high integrity, they have to manage their caucuses.

And if the above wasn't bad enough, I didn't even discuss the topic of incompetence. The percentage of legislators who don't have a clue about the real life consequences of their proposals is simply astounding.

The voters have a monumental task to decide on the shape and form of their government. So there are bound to be surprises and screw-ups from time to time.
