Billing Concepts: BILL reached a new 52 week high on Wednesday:

This article on Billing Concepts BILL appears in Monday, November 17, 1997 Investor's Business Daily

Billing Concepts is the No. 1 third party bill processor for
telecom firms, including operator service and pay phone
providers. Its biggest money maker is doing billing for
second-tier direct-dial, long- distance carriers.

Billing concepts processes telephone call records of long-distance carriers and submits them to local phone companies to include
in their monthly bills.
It receives a fee from carriers for each call
record processed on their behalf.

Now the company wants to make its billing service
even more
enticing by eliminating local exchange carriers from the
billing process.

This new direct billing service gives Billing Concepts'
clients total control over their billing processes.
Rather than record their charges on local phone bills,
long-distance carriers can bill their customers directly,
using their own branded envelopes and statements.
......the potential market for direct billing is
estimated at $2.8 billion. It includes billing
for local access providers, Internet companies and gas
and electric utilities.

The telecom direct-billing segment alone is about
$600 million,or three times the size of the market
for billing via local exchange carriers. .
....Eventually,
billing concepts stands to gain even more doing
billing for the Baby Bells as they get into direct-dial
long-distance services.

Billing concepts CEO, says he expects BILL's revenues to
grow 25% to 30% a yeaer for the nxt few years. In the
third quarter, the company lost 81 cents a share, after
a $21.3 millin charge. Included was an $8.3 million
write-down for pulling out of a venture to develop
a direct bill product with Saville systems..

Excluding charges, Billing Concepts earned 34 cents a
share up 26% from a year. Sales rose 24% to 32 million.
