Paul, you're not giving AMD the credit they deserve. They have published pictures of a package with "K7" printed on it, so it's fair to say that they have at least done a first pass on the logo...

<Intel wants the Slot 1 to replaces socket 7 because they alone hold the intellectual property rights (and TRADE SECRETS) for this configuration. That locks out Cyrix, AMD and IDT and all other copy cats.>

Cyrix has said they believe they now have the rights to use slot1 based on a cross licensing agreement between Intel and National Semi. I haven't heard much about this since cyrix first mentioned it a month or 2 ago.
