this is a very thought provoking message.

And the fact that you posted a thought provoking message is causing me much consternation. It doesn't mesh well with my view of the universe.

I do think that you are on to something, though I think the desired outcomes are probably different. I doubt it is about productivity. I believe that it is about furthering government control over every industry while at the same time making the citizens reliant on the government for their well being. It is about power. Which, of course, implies money.

That's an interesting take on how things work.

I remember sitting on my boat in LA Harbor watching all of the COSCO (China Overseas Co - not Costco) ships coming into the harbor loaded to the gunnels with containers and then watching them leave so empty the bow bulb was out of the water.

During the Clinton administration, we lost our yacht club building on the Navy base in Long Beach. The entire Navy base was closed and the property sold to COSCO along with some adjacent Fed property. The U.S. then expanded Terminal Island by 200 acres with rocks mined at Catalina, which they also gave to the Chinese to erect more cranes. They just expanded again - all for the Chinese.

We are importing tons and tons and nothing is leaving. You can see the trade imbalance in real time at the harbor.
