Most penny stocks are shorted, it is so easy for brokerage firms or even wealthy individuals to short penny stocks since they are so cheap. That explains why they go so low....and then go so high so fast after the short covers, or in some cases, as the short covers. Usually the shorts are real pros, and they don't get caught short, they just hold the stock long enough to cover before letting the stock back up. So, that's why sometimes you have to wait so long for a deserving stock to go up. But when they go, they really go...if they deserve it.
