I have also stayed out of directly buying treasuries. My cash is in money market funds backed by treasuries right now.

If the argument is true then any rumors/news that something is being done to "try" and plug the dike they (who ever they are) will push the high tech sector stocks up. On the other hand your argument of short covering could be the culprit. If we had a short covering rally there is just air underneath it and we should see things go south next week.
