You can add to your article the fact that they had to restate their internet traffic figures prior to the IPO. However, the demand is there, it is unstoppable and somebody is going to grow very big with it and it is going to happen very fast. Your article points out the fact that if you think RENN is bad then stay away from YOKU who is really horrible. Much worse, they point out, than RENN. Add to this the fact that YOKU just diluted its shares because it needs more money and you have a mega loser. Then Forbes points out in a article today: blogs.forbes.com "New York-listed Chinese video website Youku, itself losing money and bearing the weight of a $6.1 billion market capitalization, rose 3.8% after it said revenue shot up by 163% in the first quarter from a year earlier to $19.5 million, while its loss shrank by 8% to $7.1 million." In other words you never know what will happen in this game for sure. The only thing you know is that somebody is going to grow real fast and it will be the people in the areas we all know: search, twitter, and social networks. As far as having the founder on board in order to be a great company....look at YHOO. Their leader destroyed the company completely. Also note that if you have millions in cash flow you can hire the best programmers. It is true that there is some more risk with one family owning most of the company but there are a lot of successful companies like this. I'm not saying that RENN will dominate their area of the market in the years to come for sure but they do have "first mover advantage" and cash to work with. Worrying abut what might happen to challenge RENN is something you can do all day long - Worrying about how BIDU might team up with Facebook? How about this one: BIDU buys RENN. It seems to make more sense because the Chinese government will require extreme oversight that would be very difficult for Facebook to do. Anythng can happen....you pay your money and you take your chances...I am positive you can go back a few years and create a solid argument about how crazy it is to buy BIDU. GOOG will eat their lunch, etc, etc Do you know when kaixin101.com will IPO? I heard some talk but have not seen anything.
