But you would have had to have grown up near SF & the times Steve & Woz in the peninsula grew up . I have friend that was driving a tie~dyed taxi in Berkeley that became one of the founding fathers of PC World Mag . ;o)

I lived in Marin County in the late 60s early 70s. My hippy credentials are intact.

>> BTW , if you check back a couple of weeks , i was the one buying AAPL at the $320 pivot the morning the S&P downed the US Debt , AAPL was getting pounded on the NDX reballancing news & called the 40pt run back into earnings two days later to within $1 . Can show you the links if you like ...

actually i could have picked up shrs that morning for $319.96 but was a litle slow !! <<

Since when can you buy a stock just because it trades at a certain price? What was the ask price when the 319.96 went off?

S&P did not "down" U.S. debt.

"Standard & Poor's warned that it might lower its rating on U.S. government debt because of mounting budget ..."
[usatoday.com]

By the next day, other papers used softer wording:

Apr 19, 2011 ... Standard & Poor's warning that it could downgrade the United States' credit rating continued to haunt the markets Tuesday, but hopes for a ...

The prices you cite were available only pre-market. If you put in an order at 320.00 in regular hours, it never got executed. The low was 320.16, AAPL closed up Monday Apr 18, and hasn't seen Friday's 327.46 since.

I think the genius of Apple's polycarbonate bodies is under rated. My Quicksilver is still admired by people when I show them how stone simple it is to work on. Way better than my previous 8500 stamped steel which was at least a different shape than other computers of it's time. The polycarbonate really gave Apple complete control over shape allowing the handles which are still just as strong as the day I bought it.

Jobs just loves materials. I do too.

polycarbonate
brushed machined aluminum
liquid metal
gorilla glass

all just as important to Apple's success as software and chips.
