Yes David, you're absolutely right. There is a myriad of links in the communication chain, and any one can slow it down. Thus having a very fast modem eliminates only one of the links, but it does not guarantee fast communication. Cable modem is very nice when downloading big files and graphics (like charts). Also, it allows linking up a second computer to the net for an extra $5/mo. And, it frees up a telephone line. A good investment, IMO. Tulvio
