Not nearly as bad as the police riots during the Viet Nam War protest era. Campare that footage to the footage of police wildly beating protestors outside of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicaho. At least these days people have cameras all over the place and there is a lot more awareness of police brutality, so the police know that whatever they do in public can be caught on camera. It keeps them in check somewhat.

Given the situation, the police response seemed way overboard in the video you posted from IL. A few cops could have taken away a few trouble makers and not made a scene like that. That was creepy.
