AMD's credibility damaged

AMD's credibility damaged

Advanced Micro Devices has stumbled badly on the very thing Intel does best--manufacturing. Despite an all-out effort, it isn't going to come close to hitting its 4th quarter plan to ship 2 million K6 processors. While the K6 is an unqualified success as a product, AMD's inability to make good on its production promises has miffed even its staunchest supporters, Mark Hachman writes in EBN.

"Based on their body language, I'd guess AMD is setting us up to report yields of more like 1.6-to-1.7 million units for the quarter," says Brown Bros.' William Milton. He is "still very bullish on AMD's future, but not its stock. Their only problem is manufacturing." AMD's inability to turn on the K6 spigot was blamed for the sudden departure of Vinod Dham, its top MPU exec, who was also said to be heading up R&D on AMD's next MPU.

Dave,
<It would be sad to lose anyone else who gives value to this thread simply because they like name calling.>

This is not about name calling, who cares about this childish thing. The problem is that the junk posters like no-name "stockman" contaminate discussions just with mocking remarks like "looser ... looser...looser", nothing else. Who would enjoy that? Those who long on this thread know who is who here and it is easy to filter, but newcomers just see Yousef, Paul and stockman here, that's it. These intel caddies just dominate the thread.

These shameless guys are full-time AMD bashers, they have no business with AMD, just annoyingly playing thier dirty game like "Short AMD!!!" There is no value in their posts, they stress only negative sides of AMD business which we all know about. They even started to use "thesis inversion" technique - look how this jerk "stockman" started to cut down respectable contributors, using very serious tone. Newcomers may start to think that Brian is the one who post "join the church of intel" garbage here, not "stockman" himself. This is the problem - we cannot shut him up.

Regards,

Ali
