Lee, I think its unfair to say that all of Tito's posts indicate he can successfully time the market. What he, and more so his wife <vbg>, can do is figure out when to take some, if not all, off the table. SI is a great forum for gathering information, seeing how others like yourself and myself interpret what we read and hear. I really look forward to Tito's posts. Anyway, you don't have to time the market exactly with LEAPS. I missed whatever initial run-up occurred after last years conference call in AMAT, but by buying some Jan 98 LEAPS in early January I almost doubled my money and sold them in February. I got back in to AMAT in March and sold again for a 100%+ gain in May. I was out of the stock when it hit the low sixties, and from there it ran to 108+. So I missed forty more points in the stock. Am I sad. Yes and no. While that was happening I made 650% (150k) by buying Intel January 102.5's at an average of $1.68 and selling them six weeks later for $11+. I felt Intel was a batter place to be. This past spring and summer I made excellent money in Ascend, 3Com, Cisco, Microsoft and Intel. I missed Dell, Compaq and everything else that was skyrocketing. And I was solely in technology. I will say I don't agree with anyone who buys one company or stays within one industry or set of industries. I also don't agree with the philosophy of rolling your positions out to the next year. Take your money out and stay out. No stock goes up forever. Once it goes as high as its going to go, it will pull back, you can bank on it. There's a whole other group of people out there playing that game. I started last January with 20k. Im feeling good about the chances I took. I'm starting to load up again. I'll never put all of it back in. I don't have to be perfect with my timing., I can average in slowly. I've been putting money in stocks, mutual funds, savings accounts, etc. as well. Have the fundamentals changed with these stocks. At Ascend and Seagate, yeah, big time. I'll wait. Have they changed at Applied Materials and Intel, yeah, the jury is still out on the full extent. So, I'll buy a little here. Have they changed at Cisco and Microsoft. Guess not. The numbers and forecasts look good and the stocks have held ground. I'll buy some now, some more later. Are Dell and Compaq kicking butt. Uh huh. I'll buy some. An eight or ten point move in the right direction with any of these stocks and I'm golden again. A few more cycles and I'll be rich and I wont have time to spend lurking or occasionally posting on SI<vbg>. This post was made to make a point, which has totally escaped me. Lee, please be gentle and keep your questions simple. Tom
