Politicians have successfully convinced the public through the mainstream media that there are only two choices: 1) Default on the debt, or 2) raise taxes so that the additional revenue will save us from defaulting.

Sadly, the other solution that they will neither consider nor discuss is to spend at levels that will not require raising the debt ceiling. Reducing spending is what most individuals do when they are nearing the limit on their credit cards. Politicians will not consider that as an option with your money.
