Steve and Buck, here's my two cents worth on the NCHIP $10MM program. They mention "instant" or speedy checks for criminal records..
>>> Criminal history records are fingerprint cards or their electronic counterparts, linked with information about arrests, convictions and sentences, when available.<<
We don't need them to draw us a picture, do we?
Another thought....they mention prevention of pervs from working with kids, and also preventing criminals from purchasing firearms. The federal govt has traditionally relied on local sheriff and PD's to run the criminal checks that federal firearm laws require. However, due to a lawsuit by the Sheriff of Ravalli County, MT. ( maybe a relative of Ratman's), the Supreme Court has ruled that the states cannot be required to provide these checks wihtout being reimbursed. The sheriff said he couldn't afford the time required to run these checks. Long story short, there are 50,000 licensed federal firearm dealers, many of whom operate from back rooms and gun shows. Require them to buy or share a ten-printer, cost of guns goes up, cost of compliance paid by users, number of felons getting guns drops, number of pervs getting jobs drops due to these new ten-printers ( fear of detection will make most of them stop even applying once word gets out), kids win, parents win, IDX stock soars, we are winners.

If I remember right, IDX has 8 or nine AFIS states now and working on twenty more. NEC says they have 30 or so. I know we are in Illinois and in the 50 million appropriation that Richard found, over 6 million is going to Illinois alone. Over 13 million was going to California and if you get my drift, we can't help but be in there in a large way. It sounds like the link you found is even more money from somewhere, (the state itself)! If you take that kind of thinking times 50! WOW!

Once again, thanks for the report David. I was wearing out my mouse going back and forth to the press room link. The good news is I now am a wetlands activist!

P.S. Also a few days ago, one of the links posted, said NEC had a million fingerprints in their system. NECs' slideshow says they have 39 million. I just wanted to point this out as there is a vast difference in those figures if an analyst is looking at them to determine the scope of the NEC/IDX deal. If there is a valid reason for this, such as two different kinds of fingerprints (Law verses Commercial) this needs to be pointed out in the news releases.

Just a valid question everyone, where is the coverage, why so few analysts?????It's about time the rest of the street should have picked up on this great story......?????
Don't bite my head of, just trying to add value here........Noticed this folder is getting very hot.......
Still think something is wrong with this company and would like to hear from that person who wrote the NEW YORK TIMES article last summer....Can anyone repost that article to refresh our memory on the points he made and the questions he raised. It would be interesting to see if he was right or wrong on his evaluation of IDX's future business.

PS, can we stop the nasty fighting on the board......Those who like IDX must be allowed to voice their opinions and those who don't must be allowed to voice theirs. This is a forum for the exchange of ideas.........they don't all have to be one sided..........

IDX marketplace assessment 11/14/97

near-term rank = average

max/min trading channel trendlines
+ 2wk + 4wk + 6wk
13.2 13.5 13.7 [ potential price highs ]
10.6 10.8 11.0 [ potential price lows ]

closing price 9.38
resistance level 9.86
five day guess? 9.58
note:recovery to 10.3 area likely

buying pressure = average
selling pressure = above average
investors = skeptical
traders = selling
intra-day market mood unfavorable

IDX remains in a near-term uptrend. However the technical
picture weakened last week and the stock activity should
be watched closely. It appears the selling may have been
overdone since it has fallen below the lower trading channel
trendline. Next week should be a tell all as to whether this
stock will be headed higher or lower in the next few months.

A post over on the SI thread states that Daniel Maase, Identix Senior Vice President, has filed a Sec 144 intent to sell for about 43,000 shares. Can anyone confirm this with a URL for all to see? If this is true, it could give this company a black eye on top of an already huge shiner. Let's hope it is a rumor. Thanks for the help.

PS - Brutusone, how about toning it down a bit? Your message would be received by most with more credibility. Not long ago the SI thread was talking of other analysts taking up coverage. I also wonder where the coverage is.

brutusone,
You make good points ,i think most of us longs are in some form of denial.Long before a stock takes off there should be some broker coverage,insider buying,large volume fund buying [at least one].
Our solace is all the news surronding OUR stock seems to be positive.
Ihope you have had a chance to make money on IDX ,we think our chance is comming pretty soon.Maybe the INS can start it next week,sylvan shure looks positive,5 year contract with NEC,software out of BAT,and what about that reseller of security systems that signed with IDX any one remember thier name?

All that sounds great but it is not showing up in the stock, why, why what is wrong here the news is GREAT, EXCELLENT but wher are the numbers, the coverage by analysts... It's almost as if this stock is tainted with COMPARATOR DISEASE......Something is very wrong and I have bailed out of the stock except for a very small position and I thing that will go soon.
