We had burglaries in Munich (1979), in San Diego (2009) and now in Italy (2011). When we moved from our apartment to our single home 1980 we put in alarm immediately. Same in San Diego, when we moved in 1998. but not yet in Italy, because we had (almost) nothing to steal - we thought...

Last Sept our old and very reliable family team - or so we thought - started working on amending some space to our casa. In some strange ways they got hold of keys to our main building and used it as a daily base until we found out a couple of weeks later. Thus they had ample time to check out everything which included stealing 6 sets of 100+ years old knives, forks and spoons in the kitchen. That's when we knew they had access to the main house and had all locks changed.

What's more, the architect never informed us, that the workers team was now different, because in his opinion they were - and still remain to be!!! - the same team by his definition!!!!

The old Esposito family team: The father and 2 sons Esposito.
The new Esposito family team: The 3rd son Esposito (kicked off the original family team years ago for reasons we don't know), his father-in-law and a couple of low cost Moroccan helpers.

Now, we can only speculate about how the pro burgalry team received complete information on what to go for and how to get into the house, but acccording to the cops, they pay off illegal immigrants and others small money to feed them what they need to know and put potential targets on their map.

And yes, we were talking about getting the alarm system, but assumed, that as long as we have daily workers busy to finish the ampliamento, we would be fairly safe.

Guess what, before they finished they took 10 days off from our place for reasons not known.

And guess what, that's exactly when the burglary team did their job.

Neat, right?
