Anyway, the 5 firms are: IBM, Netscape, Novell, Oracle, and SUN. The plan is to create an open architecture, and products to support that architecture. This vision is based on three elements: NCs/information devices, JAVA, and CORBA. Welcome to the world of "virtual corporation" and coopetition. I strongly belive that this alliance is strategic in intent, and poses a formidable threat to Microsoft. This is known within those 5 firms as the Manhatten Project. -Dan
