The law specifies that *RFG contain oxygen (2% by weight). MTBE and ethanol are the two most commonly used substances that add oxygen to gasoline. MTBE was eliminated in 2006.

The promotion of, Federal subsidy for, and high import tariffs protecting domestic production of ethanol motor fuel and the Federal mandate for oxygenated gasoline are essentially political phenomena.

This willful blindness speaks to Frank's point earlier today about pervasive scientific ignorance.

The public will believe anything that has enough buzz behind it to become a fad. At our farmers' market today a lady was selling gluten free soap.
