Yes, but no one can deny that U.S. Robotics has disappeared. When 3Com announced the merger in Feb. 1997, U.S. Robotics stock was trading at $61-62. At the exchange rate of 1.75 shares of 3Com stock, that 3Com stock is now worth ($30x1.75) $52.50. Ah yes, progress.

Ditto for Cascade Communications. I didn't follow that one as closely, but I can assure you that at the time, Ascend was trading over $40 per share, and now sits in mid $20s. Ah yes, more progress. Except it doesn't feel like progress for people who had "invested" in USRX or CSCC.
