That's right, we've been "subsidizing" electric cars with free roadways for a century now and they still haven't taken off:

Baker Electric vehicles from a 100 years ago performed as well as today's EV's. What's the matter with these EV makers? They're going backwards.

That tax is not paid by the oil companies....

"Meanwhile the electric cars don't pay gasoline tax, and receive special tax advantages."

Gasoline taxes are used around the world to promote conservation, electric cars don't use oil and to promote their use they get advantages similar to the oil companies who don't need them.
