i think herman cain would be your man, then. with some more current events information/training and polish outside his normal sphere of business and domestic politics, i think this fellow can be a star. this fellow has the basics down, but he needs some behind the scenes help. with more knowledge about some of the flash points that questioning reporters will like to lob at him, he can dust them off and go on with meeting the voters. this fellow can give a great speech, and he has a forceful and good speaking voice. most important he knows how to sell stuff, and he can sell his key points (talking points whatever they might be) effectively. since he has the basic conservative financial values and smaller government ideas down pat, he would be adored by tea party people. very effective would be the fact a race card could not be played against tea party people's supporting cain. bearcatbob, i could easily conceive of this guy calling obama a liar to his face several times in a debate, and he could tell obama precisely where he lied. maybe he will just say, "there you go again" instead.

Any candidate who does that will be labelled a nut and marginalized. Just like Trump was.
