If volume is your only criterion, that's misleading, as Apple sells more high end consumer products than anyone, and uses its own processors. That doesn't make them superior, only vertically integrated.

based on the numbers of devices sold, compared to devices with competing processors (Apple, Samsung, etc.).

Would you post some actual numbers to support this assertion? Q hasnt broken out Snapdragon sales, but I assume you have some actual data to support your statement (either through your own research or 3rd party reports).

I have to tell you that I am awfully curious to see some support for your statement considering the fact that HTC alone sold 8.9 million smartphones (All Qualcomm based) last quarter versus 10.8m for Samsung.

Art, “Snapdragon is still a second class product, based on the numbers of devices sold, compared to devices with competing processors”

Without supporting facts and clarifications, this is a second class rational.

Based on the transactions of a list of aprox 700 hedge funds compiled by GS Qcom is number six on top ten holdings list.

Not to pile on, Art, but nothing is happening yet because it's too early. By all reports and analysis there is a smart device tsunami approaching. It's still on the horizon and you are wondering why you are not wet yet.
Also, at this stage in the Qcom story a 15% annual growth rate compounded over the next five years or more is not too bad. Your position would just about double in those five years.
