No set up.

Obviously.

The dog has a history.

Two reasons for a set up: (1) prevent run against Sarkozy or (2) put in replacement at IMF.

(1) is improbable as there are many ways to deal with opponents in a much more civilized manner, plus I don't think S. would stoop to it; and

(2) impossible to control political process for IMF replacement.

His history plus improbability makes me think, no, the talk is silly.

Plus, I could care less.

Any number of reasons someone would set up a "honey trap" for him.

But nothing forced him to get naked and spew his DNA on her shirt (according to reports).

Nothing forced him to cheat on his wife.

As Joe Kernan stated on CNBC, had it been me standing naked in the shower when she walked in, I would have been grabbing for a towel and asking her to come back later.

Of course, being a single man, I might be more inclined to a little fun, but I'd make damn sure (like having a tape recording of the event) that my @ss was covered under consensual sex alibi.

But I agree that it seems odd that she didn't shout out for 30 minutes to get someone's attention. Maids seldom work alone on the same floor and the door is supposed to remain open while tey are inside. Having their service cart outside a closed door would be a signal to her co-worker that something might be wrong.
