"And already, certain Rs are threatening to cut off disaster help if budget offsets are not found."

It amazes me at the death wish these alleged people demonstrate. Some of the TP'ers from the affected states are muting their calls for cutting of this sort of aid when it is in their states instead of places like New Orleans.

How they can watch the horrific disaster in Joplin and then turn around and threaten to cut off aid is beyond my understanding. If anyone has been in a disaster, they know what these poor people are going through. Half the homes in Joplin have been damaged or destroyed. The people are lost, confused, and mourning the loss of family members and friends....many are homeless. And then you have an idiot like Cantor who must have an IQ <70 threatening to withhold disaster aid. It boggles the mind what is happening in this country.
