"That is the Achilles heel of electrics or hybrids right now. It is guaranteed for 8 years or 100k miles, if there still isn't a high enough volume to bring the price down by then, it becomes a gasoline only car at that point."

Whereupon, the Nissan Leaf either gets a new battery or becomes lawn sculpture. Yet another reason not to buy a Leaf. How many Leaf owners are going to want to buy a battery that costs more than their used Leaf is worth? How many idiots will buy used Leaf's with batteries about to croak? Surely, the word on the street will be, "Don't be the dumbass that buys a used Leaf"!

I've got a drawer full of fancy, tiny MP3 players with custom lithium batteries that have died. No electrics for me until they've sorted this out.
