There is an old saying since King Salomon - "Nothing changes under the sun"

Civilization had Kings, Aristocracy (land owners) and Church exploiting the masses now the same people have different titles, like Bankers of all stripes, Administration, Chieftains of Public companies etc,.there are plenty of good examples.

Democracy in the current form is the rule of those elected by people who are below average intelligence or smartness from within the electorate, when intelligence and smartness is distributed in accordance with the Gaussian Bell curve -

Therefore Presidents are voted into power based on empty slogans that fascinate the masses and not proven leadership qualities, which includes in depth and thorough expertise in a wide variety of economic and international issues and which knowledge very few persons posses.

BO election is a clear example of this process

Hiring a team of experts is highly dependent on ones understanding of those matters and a clueless president will hire "experts" who speak his slogans, but do not have the needed expertise. - So what the presidential expert says is "hogwash" in most cases. Timothy Geithner is a perfect example.

From reading the speeches of DSK and the reports issued under his guidance I do believe that he had this knowledge of social economic world interaction and would have found a solution to solve within few years the EU/Greek problems.

IMHO the survival of Greece within the EU would run counter to the debt hungry US administration who still wishes the destruction of the EU which is threatening the ultimate economic reign of the US by promoting and sending their talking heads into bashing the EU and EUR.

This is obvious from the fast growing trade between the Far East – China and India included on the expense of the US. Germany GDP was over 5% Y/Y a growth rate that the US can only dream about with the present 1.8% for Q1 and with the USD as a reserve currency.

This is also why CNBC is promoting all the NAY sayers to the survival of Greece and the EU, bashing constantly the “PIIGS” at a time many municipalities and States within the US are in no better situation with a combined GDP substantially higher than that of the “PIIGS”
