Tito: Thank you for all the good info in LEAPs.
When I do it I may be asking you questions from time to time
if you do not mind.

Good luck.

My final question to you on AMAT LEAPS.

On January 2, 1996 AMAT closed at $20. On January 2, 1997 AMAT closed at $17.63. A loss of $2.37 for the year. All 1997 LEAPS expired worthless, except for in-the-money LEAPS which lost money, but at no time during the year could you have sold these for 100% profit.
Where does your "guaranteed" $5k to $100k profit fit into this scenario?

Tito and others,

Re - "To Anybody Who Have Bought AMAT LEAPS due to my Recommendations:---"

Thanks Tito. That was nicely done. Not that it matters what I think, but I feel that was a more fair look at the situation. There is a lot of potential, and a lot of risk. Similar to Margin. I'm not against either, but do like to see fair evaluations of all topics.

SI continues to amaze me with the people and knowledge they have, and their willingness to share. To all those who have patiently answered my numerous questions, thank you. I tend to ask a lot of questions, but its because I wish to learn more and profit from it. I'm not trying to waste anyone's time or set them up. Many of you have been a great help and hope you will continue to be.

It is simply impossible for me to do all the research I would like to, so your input is very valuable.

Lee

I've been thinking of buying an AMAT Jan 00 call and in looking at the prices I happened to notice the puts. What would be your thoughts on writing a Jan 00 put vs buying the call?

P JAN00 50.0 23 7/8 20 7/8 22 7/8

P JAN00 60.0 32 29 31 0

TITO - first time poster long time reader - thanks for your info on leaps -we are all big boys and buying leaps or the stock are no guarantees - the only difference in the leaps is the premium paid for the time - as far as leaps should not risk any more than willing to loose - invest 5-10k and hope for history to repeat itself - would have lost more than that in the last month buying 1k of stock a month ago - i am going to throw 10k at amat leaps and would like to know which ones you would do- i had my eye on the jan99 30 for 10 or the jan00 35 for 11.5

thanks to all on this thread - i got into amat at 32 and am very long

To Anybody Who Bought AMAT LEAPs due to my Recommendations:---

Good Intentions are sometimes viewed as Bad. I'm not saying that people have already accused me of running a Scam in this thread:---a "Too Good to Be True" scheme, a "Get Rich Quick" scheme or a Cult to take advantage of the "Faithful". Maybe I'm close to be branded as such now; maybe it's my fault also because sometimes, to inject humor, I utter such words as "...to those who believe in me..." and "...AMAT 'converts' among friends..." etc...We have heard the valid arguments of those against LEAPs, including those who lost in the game. You have heard also the success I made in LEAPs, so it's up to you,... you can quit now and take your profits. If you bought say 5 Calls of the VPJAH Jan '99 40 LEAP at 6/share when the stock was at 29 (by selling 100 of your shares and adding a couple of 100 dollars for commissions, etc.), then you may want to take profits now, while the stock is at 35,--- of about 1K, for a 33% gain. The stock all the while would be gaining 600 dollars from 29 to 35.

It's up to you, should you quit and just treat your experience in buying LEAPs as a Bad Dream (before it becomes a Nightmare) or wait some more for the stock to go up?...I'll Update you again when the stock hits 40, 50 and so on...using VPJAH Jan '99 LEAP Calls bought at 6/share ( when the stock was at 29) as an example...I guess I have the duty to guide Newcomers so that they will not unnecessarily lose in Options--- by using LEAPs...
