Welcome to the thread. Please fill us in on your favorite holdings if you feel that strongly about them. I'm personally inclined to go with value but there are tempting plays short-term - especially on the short side - that I'm using now to try and repair some of the paper profit losses from the past few weeks.

Lately I have been fooling around with TA indicators, especially 3-month daily MACD charts which I get on BigCharts. Today I discovered that I could have kept a lot of profits in stocks like CPQ, DELL, WDC and INTC if I had followed the MACD charts and sold when the indicators suggested. In the future, I will monitor those charts for my holdings and act accordingly. For example, I could have sold QNTM over 40 for a 100%+ profit and repurchased at 25. Instead I bought at 19, held through 40 and sold at 30, then re-bought at 35 where I sit now. TA may be mumbo-jumbo but I'm seeing valuable indicators at work most of the time.

I read some of what the experts say, but don't put much faith in it. Barron's just had an interview with two big shots whose funds are up 9% and 13% on the year. I've done better than that even with the recent fall and I'm a rank amateur. So I should listen to them?

BNGO is the only stock I will hold until I hear some bad news. The latest earnings report wasn't bad news, just not in the high-flier league. Six months from now I believe I'll will hold BNGO in the teens and pat myslef on the back for my loyalty.

No guarantees, but we shall see. Hope to hear more from you.
