Are they sold out because their yields are so poor, but want to give the impression it is because demand is so strong?

Mr 06,

Re: "AMD ships five million Fusion chips, says it's sold out"

Someday, "BSDoozer" will eventually get here.

VWB, Re: AMD ships five million Fusion chips, says it's sold out>

As of last month 3.9M, now 5M. Since 1.3M in January? 1M a month, now 100K/month ramp?

That's about the same as the initial IPAD ramp, and I'm not impressed. By October last year Apple said it'd gotten to a run rate of 4.5M/Q.(One headline had it at 45M, but they seem to have missed a decimal point.) Still not impressed, and some headlines indicate Netbook sales are declining.

For comparisons, the C-64 was selling ~1/2 that back in the early '80s.(That's 64K of memory, folks. Hard to imagine...)

PCs did ~80M in Q1 '11, generally considered a disappointment.

I've not found Atom sales rates/ramp. At one point last year I visited a computer store, and it looked like 1/4 of the box count there were Atoms. Are the same ones in the same store? I don't know.

Has anyone seen any real statistics -- as opposed to "Puff Pieces" on sales of IPADS, Netbooks, Notbooks?

If, as rumor had it, the argument between Dirk and the Board was mostly about Netbook, Notbook sales VS PCs, I'd say the PC side of that argument is winning at the moment.

As for ARM in PCs. Not impressed yet. Forecast ~ 15% of PC sales will be ARMs in 2015. Not impressed. Seems to me they had a higher percentage in the mid '80s, but that's just my memory...

And as MM'll tell anybody who doesn't have him on ignore, I could use a couple new sticks,
