You're welcome and it's almost what I ment.

GPRS/EDGE did much more than text. My old Nokia 3650, came in a funny shape an'all ca 10 years ago and was GPRS only but allowed me to browse the whole net with a color screen- in a small phone.

I had, in the US, e.g. local weather radars and international internet radio stations bookmarked and used it all the time in the car - for cheap without a data contract. Today GPRS will still constantly and easily update your car GPS for local traffic issues and more.

Of course we need more bandwidth -LTE is going to be great, unless they charge it to death.
