i would NEVER have been able to do a 5 min mile--6 min would have been it. Sprinter only was i, nothing beyond what was then the quarter mile. But the shorter the better:) My staying in shape was greatly motivated by fact my dad had a massive stroke at 63, the day after he had a big retirement party. But he NEVER did anything to stay in shape. And and as a child he was dominated by "crazy" mother that wouldn't let him play sports because he could get hurt! Yeh he got hurt alright, by her dominance, a massive stroke at 63---he lived to 86 , but it was a rough 23 years following that massive stroke.
My primary exercise has been working out in a steam room, the steam really ramps up the stress.
