Before humans started messing with the climate it was clear and sunny every day, except for once a week when a gentle rain would fall. The wind was never too strong, trout jumped in every stream, flowers bloomed in every field .... all was right with the world. Whenever I hear the argument that all these scientists cannot possibly be wrong, I am reminded of Carl Sagan on Nightline during the Gulf War. Sagan, of course, was lauded as a scientific genius, the head scientist, the guru. The ultimate voice of the scientific community. And what he said was downright frightening if you weren't a longtime observer of liberal bullshit. Sagan told us that if Saddam set fire to the Kuwait oil fields, so much soot and smoke would result that sunlight would be blocked and we would have something akin to a nuclear winter. Fred Singer, the other participant on the show, tried to tell viewers not to worry, this was an overstatement. And of course, it was. In the end, the fires were set, but had no real effect outside the Gulf and certainly not around the world. And Singer was right, and Sagan was wrong. The Left is genetically alarmist on these issues. One liberal talk show host I listen to literally came on his show in tears during the Gulf Spill, claiming it to be the biggest ecological disaster in history. We now know it was equivalent to someone peeing in the swimming pool. I just don't know how they expect to have a positive impact on the environment when they chronically overstate the issues; it causes people to ultimately discount the entire argument. Like so many Carl Sagans, they just look foolish.
