Still reading up on Japan, a good plan might be to go long the stocks and short the yen... Think Buffett said he had never been able to find anything in Japan--and I read somewhere that if you play around with screens on the FT site, out of 2600 companies or something in the Japanese index only about 50 have ROE's > 20 which is pretty pathetic. But I grant you it is v cheap, and I only have superficial knowledge. Small caps sound interesting.
