The amount stated as "unfunded liability" is DEFINED to the be the present value --that is, the amount of money you would have to have TODAY to grow into enough money to meet the obligations.

Now you have been corrected into saying what I said but you still say that I was wrong...your very post shows that you were incorrectly using the term.

That is the only method the trustees can use to close the gap of unfunded liabilities...whether it be a present value figure or a total 75 year figure. PAUL RYAN USED A DIFFERENT APPROACH DIDN"T HE DUFUS? Why? Because he can assume legislative changes to the program. Should we assume that there is no other way to close the gap? Should we say that we are stupider than every other industrialized nation out there?
