Wasn't that "weird"?

I thought it was kinda cool. Was it unusual? yes. Was it unheard of? not at all. It's happened before and it will happen again.

And have you had any more thoughts about Nuke energy and "safety"? It seems that the Germans and certainly the Japanese have.

Certainly I have. I think it is a tremendously stupid idea to put a nuclear power plant on the coast directly adjacent to a subduction zone that has produced massive tsunamis in the area in the past.

It's almost as foolish as building a city on the coast, below sea level in an area that is known to have frequent hurricanes. Here in Los Angeles you don't see too many brick houses. Why not? you ask. Well, we have things called earthquakes here. Not too frequently, but a good one every 20 years or so. Brick houses tend to fall down in medium sized earthquakes and people die in them. It isn't that bricks are inherently dangerous building materials. In fact, they are perfectly appropriate for the eastern USA. But for this area it's just not a good idea. Same with nuclear power plants and coastal subduction zones.

Yes, I was in Australia. The people with whom i came in contact pretty much agree that the AGW movement is a load of crap perpetrated by people trying to make money and get power....and the useful idiots who support them. Monckton never came up in the conversation.....though Oprah did come up since she had just done a series of shows there.

it was interesting to see how anti-firearms the Aussies are. In fact, they are anti-weapon. They think that Americans are crazy when it comes to guns.

So...we didn't see eye to eye on everything.

I am very happy that Germany and Japan are adopting suicidal energy policies. I hope China and the entire mideast does the sames.

But my prediction is that Germany and Japan will have to abandon their plans in a couple of years when it becomes obvious that they simply can't meet the energy needs of their countries with renewables. No fanfare will be had when the silly energy policies are abandoned, but nukes, coal (and hydro) will remain the vast majority of the energy supply for those countries.

Are you willing to let economies collapse and people to die because there isn't enough energy to sustain them and keep them warm?

Greentopia will smell a lot like rotting flesh.
