Bill,

China would love to sell weapons to Saddam to make a few fast bucks (and noises), but I don't any "siding" would be in the cars.

There is a "fault line" somewhere in the third-world, in politics, economics and culture, and China appears to be keenly aware of this.

Regards,
Ibexx

Something to consider when examining Saddam Hussein:

His values are not your values. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he is willing to sacrifice tens to hundreds of thousands of his own people to achieve his ends. He has used chemical weapons, against Iran, and against his own populace. He has possibly more chemical and biological weapons hidden away now than when the Gulf War started. He was willing to engage in direct battle with the United States of America at a time when our control over the United Nations was stronger than it is now.

To Saddam Hussein, whether or not to spread anthrax across Kuwait and Saudi Arabia is not a question of ethics, but of probable response. Same as whether or not to just threaten to spread anthrax across Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Don't think just in terms of whether or not we would win a direct battle. There are many ways to fight. And don't think in terms of "he's not that crazy." He is that crazy.

Bill, Do not believe that China will gain anything by siding with Sadam, Rusia and France and some extent the Germans will gain most.

Remember Rusia is owned plenty of $ by Iraq and Germany is a net importer of OIL!.

The whole issue with Sadam is a major US - e.g. Clinton political failure. The give credit were it belongs, Mr. Bush planted the seed at the time by not taking out Sadam. Typical myopic US foreign policy.

By now we would had 2 or 3 different new entities, like a Kurdish state, some resemblance of Iraq and in the South an undifined entity, which would be easely added to Saudia camp.

Novadays I am starting to belive Nostradamus and his prediction of the expansion of the Arabs.

Algeria even if not in the news should give some viable indications as to the anticipated future - daily slaughter of innocent people, for "religeous/muslim" causes!

If the fundamental muslim thinking will spread to more populos countries in SE Asia the world we be in real trouble.

Happy Trading
Haim
