Uptrend line is still intact......for now.

Without actually placing blame, if I were looking at the market right now as a trader, I would be shorting the hell out of it. And I believe that there will be many opportunities to make money on the short side of the market in the next 3-4 months. Meanwhile the political sentiment will not go favorably for Obama while the stockmarket tumbles. However, the stockmarket will hit a bottom some time next fall and then it will recover to some degree. The degree of the recovery will have a big influence on the 2012 elections.

Again, without assigning responsibility for the movement of the stockmarket, republican candidates will have a few months to hammer Obama's economic policies in much the same way that Obama hammered Bush for situations that were beyond his control.

Obama may learn the lesson of "turnabout is fair play"
