More on Windows Volume Shadow Copy in Windows 7 and True Image 2011 on recovery of an image.

Vikram: Hello, Thank you for contacting Acronis Customer Central. My name is Vikram and I will be happy to assist you.
Please allow me 1-2 minutes to review your message.

Vikram: Thank you for your patience.

Vikram: You have recovered a system backup using Acronis True Image Home 2011, however after recovery Windows Volume Shadow Copy was turned off. Am I correct?

Me: Yes

Vikram: I have understood your issue, however may need to refer my resource to proceed with further information on this.

Vikram: May I place this chat session on hold for 3 minutes?

Me: okay, also I am using the factory CD boot CD, build is 5041

Vikram: Thank you.

Vikram: Thank you for being on hold. I appreciate your patience.

Me: ok

Vikram: The case ID is xxxxxxxxx, for the issue you are facing.

Vikram: Please let me know if you are able to restart Windows volume shadow service.

Me: Yes I called Microsoft and they walked me through it to start it and set it back to automatic

Me: My concern is it will happen again after a recovery

Vikram: May be after the recovery this service was not initialized.

Me: It was fine before I recovered

Vikram: You can do it very easily after launching services and may not need to contact Microsoft.

Me: I know I can turn it back on, it's easy, but I don't want to do this every time, is this a known issue with True Image?

Vikram: This not the know issue. However, I will surely communicate this to our development team.

Vikram: When we create a entire system backup, it creates backup with current system settings. After restoring the whole system backup it recover those system settings . I am sure it will not happen the next time.

Me: If I run the new ISO, build 6857, can I still restore images created with an older build? I run from the boot CD.

Vikram: Yes, you can use the latest ISO to recover images created from an older build.

Me: Okay, you answered my question, thank you for your help.

Vikram: You are welcome.
