When has Apple provided guidance about specific products? I recall no such estimates coming from them at any time.

Me neither.

Through the last quarter, Apple filed additional information (a Data Sheet) as Exhibit 99.2 to the 8-K filed the day of the financial news release.

On 4/20/2011 this document was DATA SHEET ISSUED BY APPLE INC. ON APRIL 20, 2011, breaking down the sales revenue by product categories.
sec.gov

That was filed before the cc.

Tim (or Peter) said that going forward they would not give that breakdown (because with that information, units and revenue, analysts could calculate the ASP pretty closely, even if accessories are in the revenue number).

See Note 4
(4) Includes revenue recognized from iPhone sales, carrier agreements, services, and Apple-branded and third-party iPhone accessories

It may have been in response to a question early in the Q&A.
