Wrong.

> manufacturer controlled what software

Apple does not control software you can install unless you agree to it. 99% of users agree because they feel Apple protects them and there is plenty of software to install at reasonable prices.

> abysmal peripheral support

Can't say I know a lot about peripherals for portables but I will say, as I've said before many times.

When I walk into Best or Frys I hate that all they do for me is put a bunch of crap out for me to buy.

It takes me eons to separate the crap out from the good stuff through research.

I DO NOT WANT MORE choices. I WANT LESS choices. I think retailers should do the work for me, testing and evaluating products, then offer me 3 in each category.

It would be nice to see a decent discussion here based on facts, investment facts, instead of useless childish bickering over who is bestus.

the iPad is a PC. Its just a really bad one in that it that lacks the ability to produce content, and has quite abysmal peripheral support.

For starters:

youtube.com

Feel free to search YouTube for any parameter other than "controller," along with "iPad."

YouTube is brimming with examples of iPad created content and phenomenal connectivity.

Contrary to Cupertino marketing magic, the iPad is a PC. Its just a really bad one in that it that lacks the ability to produce content, and has quite abysmal peripheral support.

It's interesting how people who have no clue as to what can be done with iPads are such self-impressed experts on them.

> iPad is a PC

And an iPod is a Walkman.

That misconception cost me a lot of money. I did not understand the difference and missed investing at a very lucrative moment.

There is a conceptual difference between the two that may seem like "marketing magic" to some but once consumers understand the difference they make the choice.

Eventually I realized, from Allen, that you could carry your entire music collection around on your iPod. A fundamental difference, at the office or at a party or on the road. Not marketing magic at all. Concrete.
