Truf, Ira, Cramer, (covered calls)
I agree with Cramer that CCs limit ones flexibility within a position
IF one is the type who is ready to go cash in a market downturn rather than just hold right through it and buy more if one can. I, for one, do not plan on liquidating my core positions during a crash. If INTC,CPQ, IOM get hurt(again) I'll just suffer with them, and continue making up ground by selling calls as they recover eventually.

Also, the negatives highlighted by Cramer become less and less significant after each successful(non-assigned) call writing. If I can write calls at $1.5 for just 2-3 months without getting assigned, even if I do appear to "leave money on the table" as my next set gets assigned, the previous months profits more than offset this in most cases.

My answer to the problems. Get lucky and don't be greedy during the first 2-3 rounds of call selling. Be very happy to make 8-11% on your money in 4-6 weeks if you get assigned. Don't write calls on your entire poition if you want to remain in the game should your pick spike up.
Just my opinion,
Markas
