So we could have had another fat bloated program, as big or bigger than Medicare, for our kids to deal with 50 years hence?

Which is precisely what would have happened had the Rs not stood up against it.

What Obama inherited was certainly better than what Bush inherited (a recession ACCOMPANIED BY BIN LADEN at his peak of power).

The economy would have recovered just fine had Obama stayed on the course Bush had set (TARP). But adding another TRILLION PLUS in wasted spending just pushed us over the edge. Jumping into the midst of the credit markets with the takeovers of the auto industry made it worse. Talking the economy down for political purposes made it worse.

The government cannot solve economic problems. The most important thing they can do is to act in a way that brings back consumer confidence. Obama has not done that, even to this day. Which is the reason we are now headed to a double-dip. Nobody in his right mind believes this guy knows what he is doing.
