not when unions and the NEA are involve and you promote by tenure and not by merit. there is no free market in the public schools

also if you can't fire bad ones

the free market in the schools worked until the unions got in. Like in the 50s and 60s

So I guess the free market principle that if you pay more you get better quality doesn't apply.

Public "education" has nothing to do with the free market. It's a government run closed shop..

It obviously can not apply to a unionized profession. Where pay raises are based on seniority and the last person hired is the first person laid off.
