The regulation has a cost, but its not enough to sink the economy in most cases. Regulation has a cost and also has a strong benefit. Making products meet certain specs for one raises the quality of the category. And it creates a level playing field where the best companies can win on price and benefits. If there were not benefits with regulations we wouldn't put them in place. They are answers to an obvious need. )That said some bad regulations slip through the cracks).
