Americans are often guilty of not looking beyond their own
back yard, in this case beyond American history. There are
many, many examples around the world when a Central
bank totally destroyed the nation's currency, yet fiat regime
survived. In fact, such destruction was pretty common
last century. My take is that the Fed will successfully
destroy the dollar, but, despite that, the return of the
gold standard, here or abroad, is unlikely.
