Looking at the entire auction, premiums were good on lower MS grades, like MS-60s to 62 common date Double Eagles. Quite a few MS-64s went for about the same price. Their premiums should have been hundreds of dollars higher according to PCGS.

Overall? Nearly a $300 premium to bullion price on lower MS grade, common dates, looks pretty good to me. Was surprised at how well some of the smaller coins did.

Looking at the numbers on the 1927, you used as an example? At $1872 the premium to bullion is many times that of the U.S. Eagle which is quoted at $1604 today on MONEX.
