Palin has made clear she doesn't know American history.

I'm surprised (well, no I'm not)..that you would bring that up so soon after Palin embarrassed you liberals with her superior knowledge of American history.

Austria is a German speaking country .... just like scores of countries speak English, despite different accents.

I knew that Afghanistan isn't an Arab country. Why didn't Obama? He was a Senator who voted on Afghan war issues.

"Uh........the truth is Austria does not speak the same German as Germany does. I suspect like the Swiss, the Austrians speak high German which is considerably different than the German spoken by Germans."

Uh....doesn't sound like it's very different. You just throwing shit against the wall again to see what sticks?

From Wiki...

"As German is a pluricentric language, Austrian German is merely one among several varieties of Standard German. Much like the relationship between American and British English, the Austrian and German varieties differ in minor issues (e.g., spelling, word usage and grammar) but are recognizably equivalent and largely mutually intelligible."

Ted, sporting a couple of buddies in Berlin doesn't make you an expert on German languages. You got the few bits and pieces you heard from your buddies all mixed up.

My recommendation: Stay mum where you are truly clueless.
But wait, then....

Neither the Swiss, nor the Austrians speak high German.
High German is pretty much defined as the German spoken in the vicinity of Hannover.

I speak high German even after 37 years in Munich, Bavaria.
