I don't believe anyone here blamed the unions for what they built.

The unions are [correctly] blamed for making them noncompetitive.

$5 gas will drive people to buy underpowered cars. Nothing radical about that.

Yeah...I have been told here that it was the union's fault that they built mostly big cars and trucks while "toyota" was lapping up their lunch in the economy car segment...

Have you ever seen an R drive a small car if he could help it? There is a reason why GM stuck to big cars and it has nothing to do with the unions.
