Seems to me it depends on perspective. Some look at how much a teacher gets paid, but I look at how much a teacher costs me.

Take your state budget for education, and divide that by the number of teachers in the classroom. I'll almost guarantee that we pay more than $200K per teacher.

A better way to go would be to reward good teachers with high pay, fire the worst teachers, and inject more competition in to the system, rather than having most K-12 education be from a socialized monopoly, that gives poor people little choice as to where and how their kids will be educated.

Yes I think the best teachers should make a LOT more. As to changing it from a "socialized monopoly", good luck. No country in the world has a predominant voucher system, for good reason.
