Layer apon layer of government and complex rules doesn't come from the people as a whole, as some major wish to be controlled. It comes from people with power, finding ways to exercise or solidify that power, or benefit from the power.

Not the case. Where ever humans gather, the first thing they do is give power to the few over the many. Community, county, state, federal even world governments. Organizations of like professionals. Charitable organizations. Every company. Clubs. Every group has leaders.... it's what we do as humans as soon as we can. It's deep in our DNA, it's how we protect ourselves and advance our group and our species.

No animal cooperates like humans. It takes 10,000 humans all over the world to build the components of a modern house, all cooperating, all giving up freedom/liberty for money (security).

We cooperate with 1000 regulation on a 5 minute drive to work. If one steps out of line, and decides it's his liberty to drive on the left side, the whole human social fabric breaks. WE TRUST that every one of those 1000 vehicles we pass in an hour is going to precisely obey all the regulations. If we didn't we couldn't function in today's world.

No Tim, we make an ant farm look like chaos. We are the most socialistic, most regulated zombies of any species on the planet. And we do it to ourselves, every chance we get. We love it, it makes us secure.

It's what we are, it's what makes us strong.

Libertarians are fighting a battle at the edges against the very nature of mankind. It reminds me of children rebelling against their parents.
